Jakarta - Mulai sekarang nggak pakai helm SNI bukan cuma rawan cedera berat jika terjadi kecelakaan, tapi juga didenda Rp 250.000 atau di bui 1 bulan. Mau?

Melalui Undang-undang Lalu Lintas dan Angkutan Jalan 2009 yang baru disahkan pada 22 Juni 2009 lalu, pemerintah menghimbau masyarakat pengguna sepeda motor untuk menggunakan helm Standar Nasional Indonesia atau SNI.

"Untuk saat ini masih berupa himbauan, sebagai bentuk sosialisasi kami kepada masyarakat," ujar Kepala Humas & KSLN Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Darat, Djoko Sulaksono, kepada detikOto, Kamis, (9/7/2009)

Namun, kedepannya, setelah masa sosialisasi dianggap selesai, maka tanpa kompromi peraturan ini akan segera mengikat para pengendara yang tidak patuh di jalan raya.

Sosialisasi ini akan gencar dilakukan demi keselamatan semua pihak, serta memberikan kesempatan pada para produsen untuk mempersiapkan segala hal yang berkaitan dengan peraturan tersebut.

"Kita berikan kesempatan pada semua pihak untuk mempersiapkan diri, biar nanti pada saatnya tidak ada lagi alasan, paling tidak satu tahun kedepan kita terus sosialisasikan agar semua siap," papar Djoko.

Karenanya, meskipun masih dalam tahap sosialisasi, bukan berarti ketentuan di dalam Undang-undang tersebut belum berlaku.

Sejak ditandatangani, tambah djoko, segala ketentuan di dalam Undang-undang tersebut sudah berlaku. Hanya saja, untuk kasus Helm SNI, di lapangan nanti sifatnya masih berupa peringatan dan teguran dari petugas lapangan yang terkait, seperti Polisi Lalu Lintas.

Depperin pun kini tengah melakukan sosialisasi kepada industri helm agar menggunakan standar SNI. Jadi, mulai sekarang dijalanan para bikers memang harus tetap waspada, baik terhadap keselamatan kepala, maupun denda dan kurungan. ( bgj / ddn )
